The power of music
Charlotte struggles with economic mobility. It is a well‑documented challenge. Charlotte has been a focal point in national conversations about economic mobility since the 2014 study led by Raj Chetty, which ranked the city 50th out of the 50 largest U.S. cities for upward mobility. Updated findings from a 2024 study led by Chetty show that Charlotte has improved to 38th. While this shift reflects meaningful progress, it also highlights that substantial gaps remain.
People born into lower‑income households rarely move up. One of the biggest reasons is access—access to networks, relationships, and information that open doors to opportunity. But most people only meet others who live like them, work like them, or earn like them. We are changing that.
